Fiona Hewitt

In 1990, after graduating from Edinburgh Art College with a B.A. in drawing and painting, Fiona Hewitt left Scotland for Hong Kong. While there, she was inspired by the intensity of color and design-style surrounding her - be it packaging, religious symbols, signage, labels or type. She worked as a commercial illustrator in Hong Kong and Beijing for three years, before returning to the UK.

Upon her return, Hewitt was thrilled to be awarded a study for a Masters at London's Royal College of Art. It was there that she discovered she could combine her drawing skills with the digital medium. This experience provided her with the tools she needed to realize her graphic visions.

With renewed confidence, Hewitt returned to her Asian inspired "paintings" with gusto, incorporating more elaborate and obscure sources including communist-era propaganda, children's books and toys, and various ephemera from bygone eras.

Hewitt is now living by the sea in the English city of Brighton.
